IN PURSUIT OF MY OWN BLACKNESS VOL 1

Printed publication exploring the psychological effects of racism on the human mind and how the black community deal with these psychological effects.

I wanted to create a piece that is interactive, allowing the reader to explore how type and imagery can convey meaning as well as educate themselves on the subject.

The book is split into three sections:

Death and greif

Justice and peace

Healing.

Format:

A3 (420 x 297mm) portrait book.

Single page: 297 x 210. The cover is set as a wrap around cover that folds out five times. The front of the cover slips into a small slit on the front to keep it closed. 

For the document layout, both the top and bottom mar- gins are 12mm and the bleed is 3mm. For the grids, I chose five collums with 4mm gutter.

Fonts- Chapman (regular, italic, medium and bold) Forma DJR micro, banner and text (regular, italic, medium and bold)

Pages- 40 including front and back cover.
